A new start

In the worst of times, how some people manage to keep their morale is one of the greatest mistry. It is also, arguably, the skill to develop to lead a happy life.

An old saying goes, "you can never change your journey so far but you can always make a new beginning and reach new destination."

Optimism is not an inborn talent but rather a cultivated art.

Most human qualities are developed by observing and copying other people. Same is true with optimism, you learn through observation of family, friends and colleagues. The trick is to attack your doubts with unwavering faith.

Faith doesn't mean not allowing doubts to enter rather it is ability to withstand any doubt while keeping hope alive.

Your faith may be aligned to a God or your family or your own talent or luck. But it has to manifest from within you. Any external influence, however strong, can not last forever. The inner conviction holds fast till the end. You just need to keep fueling through happiness.

It is this faith that enables me, like most of you, to regard each day as a new beginning. All of us get an opportunity to discover new wonders everyday and each day invents new future for us.

So, as this day ends, I pray for ability to make a new start again tomorrow and move towards brighter horizon.

Good night, sweet dreams. Have a brilliant new start tomorrow. 😃

Tara Rani ki Kahani

God narrates the importance of Karma in Bhagwad Geeta saying only thing one should focus on is ones Karma. The Fal or result of any karma is beyond your reach. Hindu religion puts great emphasis on karma and it's consequences. Naturally, many of our stories revolve around similar concept. No other story however is as complex as the one told to me during Mata Ki Chauki organized at my aunt's house in March 2015.  Let me present to you this long story in hopes that it will entertain and intrigue you. Tara Rani Ki Kahani King Sparsh was childless after years of marriage. He conducted a Tapa "religious meditation" to appease Devi Mata with hopes of gaining a boon. Mata, eventually, was pleased and blessed that Sparsh shall father two daughters. Soon, his wife was pregnant and in due course gave birth to a beautiful girl. Good omens followed this child. Entire kingdom witnessed divine bliss and prosperity. King's Guru proclaimed that this girl is very lucky as she car...

Book summary - Siege of Mithila

Title - Siege of Mithila Author - Ashok K Banker Genre - Fiction, Mythological  Status - Re-read Few years ago, browsing through the aisles in MJ Library, Ahmedabad, I spotted a book titled 'Armies of Hanuman'. Immediately I picked up the book and thus got introduced to the works of Mr Banker. AOH was the 4th book in Ramayan series penned down by him. Today's topic is the second book of this series - Siege of Mithila. Obviously, the story is well known to most Indians. The retelling however is tremendously different. The foreword itself is huge compared to most other books of the genre. Although, author has used same foreword in all books of the series; the build up is superb. Story in this book starts after Ram has killed demon Tatka and her minions with help of his brother Laxman. First chapter shows Ram receiving some dire news by a mysterious beauty and some conflict stirs between Ram and his temporary Guru Vishwamitra. While Sita is faced with a v...

Lincoln...greatest measure of devotion...

Lincoln is in conversation with two black soldiers during his visit to army front heading for an assault on Wilmington port while two white recruits barge in. These while boys talk about Lincoln's speech at Gettysburg cemetery. When Lincoln enquires as to whether they heard anything that day, one of them starts reciting his speech. Suddenly their company is ordered to march and both boys leave. Then, the black soldiers complete the famed speech. This is the opening scene from Steven Spielberg biopic Lincoln released in 2012. And the speech they talk about is arguably one of the greatest speeches about country, democracy and patriotism. In his succinct address, Lincoln conveyed his gratitude for the sacrifices made by American people, highlighted the importance of a continued civil war and motivated the armies to fight for a higher purpose. And to think that this whole speech is merely of 250+ words and was concluded in around three minutes, you can't help being awed. A few gli...
